MakerSpace Leiden Equipment Usage and Loan Guidelines

Overview

This document outlines the guidelines for using and borrowing equipment from the MakerSpace. Following these rules ensures that equipment remains accessible to the community, minimizes the chance of misplacing items, and encourages fair and respectful use.

General Rules for Equipment Usage

1. On-Site Use

All MakerSpace equipment is intended primarily for use within the MakerSpace. This helps maintain accessibility for all members and ensures that resources are available for ongoing projects at the space.

2. Borrowing Equipment for Off-Site Use

Occasionally, members may borrow equipment for short-term use outside the MakerSpace. However, to ensure fair access, please follow these steps:

- Request Approval

Submit a brief request to the MakerSpace community through the designated communication channels (e.g. the "deelnemers" mailing list) at least one day in advance. Specify the item(s) you need, the duration, and your intended return date.

- Approval and Availability Check

If no other members express an immediate need for the equipment on the requested dates, you may borrow the equipment as planned. Keep in mind that the final decision rests with the community; if a need arises, priority may be given to on-site projects.

- Notification of Return

Upon returning the equipment to the MakerSpace, send a quick message to the community to confirm it is back on-site and available for use. This helps keep track of where items are and assures others of their availability.

3. Extended Borrowing Needs

Equipment loans for extended periods (typically over one day) are generally not allowed. If you require tools or equipment for a longer duration, please consider renting them through commercial sources.
