The Arboga column drilling machine is a gear-driven drilling machine with a drilling capacity of 30 mm in solid steel. The speed can be varied from 100 to 2900 rpm by means of two mechanical levers and an electrical switch.

The two mechanical shift levers that control the mechanical speed change have a clear click in the extreme position. If the shift levers do not automatically move to the extreme position, the chuck must be turned slightly by hand until a clear click is heard. The shifting with the mechanical shift levers must ALWAYS (!!) be done while stationary.

Both the drilling table and the drilling head can be adjusted in height. In almost all cases, adjusting the drilling table is preferable. By swiveling and turning the drilling table, a large number of positions of the workpiece can be reached in the locked position.

It is highly recommended to clamp the workpiece in a drill clamp intended for this purpose, or with larger workpieces, with a suitable screw clamp. It not only benefits the cleanliness of the hole to be drilled, but above all it is much safer. If for any reason the workpiece becomes loose from the clamp and starts to rotate around the drill, NEVER (!!) try to stop it by hand. Press the emergency switch and step back.

The drill head has a conical mount MC3 with a capacity for drilling from 2 to 16 mm and is self-clamping. The drill head can be easily changed by turning the rotatable lip between drill head and drill column. After that, twist drills with an MC3 cone can be placed directly in the drill. A tap head or large countersink (both not present) can also be connected directly to the MC3 cone.

Use of the column drill is only permitted after a short general instruction!
