Intro

We have a maintenance day planned for 15th of March 2025. This is a chance to give some of our machines some TLC.

Todo List

Wood hand tools

  • Sharpen chisels

Metal Lathe

  • Chuck/spindle is slightly out of alignment. Needs tramming
  • Gear box sounds like someone dropped a spanner in there.
  • Carriage lock doesn't work
  • Align tailstock
  • Lubricate (and not with beer) - use ISO68, we have some in the lube cupboard
  • check everything around the cooling water/cooling mist

Abene Mill

  • Z axis DRO drifts when moving table
  • Install new X axis DRO scale if it hasn't already been

Metal chop saw

  • Use the megger to check that there is no leakage to earth or between the coils

Table Saw

  • Aux table and outfeed table need some TLC

Fan

  • Reinstall timer / auto-off box

Bambu Printer

  • The silica pellets in the ams of the Bambuprinter are cleaned, but it sucks to do so and can easily damage the machine. A small amount of new pellets have been added to keep the dehumidifier going, but we need to find an alternative.
  • There is not a good space to store the empty filament rolls. I'd suggest making a space where we can store at least 8 empty rolls, with clear labeling.
  • MThe poop chute was not attached with tape anymore, which made a small mess at the back. Maybe we could magnetize the chute?

Power tools with a 220v cord

  • check for broken plugs and power cords
  • possibly Meggen

Space door

  • see how we can improve that / get a new spring from Hartwijk and put it in the lock box

Lasersaur

  • Recalibrate - currently not cutting through 3mm multiplex.

Hand Towels

  • Sew a loop onto the hand towels that don't have a loop, making them easier to hang on a hook.

Second bike hoist

Some nicer hooks lower

Sharpen blades jointer and planer

Use the Schaafmes Slijphouder to sharpen the blades

Cleane/Grease big wood machines

Vacuum out the Planer / Vandiktebank - including the pedestal. Remove any crufty sawdust/oil residue. Grease the chain and grease/oil relevant bearings; remove any rust and put Silbergleit (dry lubricant) in the right places.

Table saw - clean inside & put Silbergleit (dry lubricant) in the right places.

Bandsaw - clean inside & put Silbergleit (dry lubricant) in the right places.

Any rust can be removed with a bit of steel wool. Be gentle. Beware that you usually need to take one of the side cover or the big funnel off to get to the really dusty bits.

Grease the CNC Z axis

  • I recently did grease the X and both Y axes, but did not do the Z axis because that is more difficult. I order to access the bearing, the end-stop sensor needs to be removed: both the steel element and the sensor must be unscrewed before the blue cover can come off. After snapping loose the cover, the grease notch becomes accessible. This inconvenient accessibility was an oversight when rebuilding the CNC.
I am not present on the maintenance day, if this does not get done I'll do it when I am back (Maarten).

Refill the cutting oils chore

The chore of refilling the cutting oils is due in one week, but it would be great if someone could complete it earlier than planned - on maintenance day. And also take stock/clean out the cabinet and see what we need to order.
