We have a special set of DIN1897 'stub' drills for metal. Sizes 1mm to 10mm in steps of 0.5.

These are extra short drills for hard metal that are stiffer than the normal jobber length drills.

Be somewhat careful for them - as they are time consuming to replace. And, also for this reason, do alert the mailing list if you break one -- as the typical cases where a such a drill is needed - is one where a normal drill will really not be a good substite. So we can get replacements timely.

This in addition to the normal, jobber length, HSS and cobalt drills that are next to the two pillar drills in the wood and metal shop. Or check the page Category:Drills for a full list.

Breaking Drills

If you break them - that is fine. Happens.

In that case - either replace them -or- report it to the mailing list so someone else can replace them.

You can expense these.
